This catfish treble hook is manufactured with a 3X heavy wire gauge and is forged, providing high tensile strength. In our tensile testing, using a size 4# catfish treble hook with a PTFE (Teflon) coating as an example, the effective tensile strength reaches 13 kg (28.66 lbs), capable of withstanding the explosive force of a 16 lb catfish. The hook point adopts a traditional needle point. We have abandoned automatic welding in favor of manual welding; the advantage of this method is that the hook point is sharper and the weld is more complete. Automatic treble hook welding machines use vibratory bowl feeders for automated loading, which can cause significant damage to the hook points of treble hooks.
